About Us

The Sell Books warehouse, a former textile mill in West Yorkshire
Our warehouse, in a former textile mill in West Yorkshire.

Sell Books is a retailer of secondhand and new books. We're based in a former textile mill in Yorkshire, but have a smaller office in London where many of our books come from thanks to our charity shop partners and our house clearance team.

We're also connected to a North London secondhand bookshop, Abney Books in Stoke Newington, which we helped set up in 2024, and will soon be helping open a second bookshop in Peckham, South London.

Every couple of months Abney Books holds a Fill a Bag sale: fill a bag with books for £20. Follow @abneybooks on Instagram for the next date.

We're a small team - there's about a dozen of us in total. We're motivated to provide books at good value to anyone who wants to read them. Many of our staff are artists, musicians, creatives, and everyone loves books.

Our history dates back to when our founder, Sean, saved some books his university was going to throw away. Without a clear idea of what he was going to do with them, he started selling a few on an online marketplace. Years later he started buying books from charity shops to resell, eventually building a team who did this, before switching to buying in bulk from these charity shops and from house clearances.
