How does "Any 10 £1 books: £10, delivered" work?
Pick any ten books from our £1 books. Ten £1 books make £10, and orders of £10 or more get free standard UK delivery. You can mix in books at other prices too. Under £10, standard delivery is £1.99.
How much is delivery, and how fast is it?
Standard (Royal Mail Tracked 48) is £1.99, or free on orders of £10 or more. Express (Royal Mail Tracked 24) is £2.99, or £4.99 as Express Signed For, with a signature on delivery. Order by 6am for same-day dispatch on standard, or by 1pm on express. If you would rather not use Royal Mail, you can choose Standard via Amazon Shipping at the same price on orders up to £40 (not available in Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Perthshire, Moray, parts of Aberdeenshire and Argyll; see the full list on our Delivery page). What do the conditions mean?
New: a brand new book.
Almost New: appears new but is actually secondhand.
Very Good: only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
Standard Secondhand: clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
Poor Condition: usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair', but we want to be more honest.
Is the cover in the picture the one I'll get?
Not always. The picture shows the title, not the exact copy. Publishers reissue books with different covers, so a second-hand copy may be an earlier or later printing with different artwork. If the edition matters to you, email us before ordering and we'll check the copy we have.
Why was a book in my order refunded?
We usually have a single copy of each book, and occasionally it sells elsewhere just before we pick your order. When that happens we email you and refund that book in full.
Can I return a book?
Yes. You can cancel within 14 days of receiving your order without giving a reason, and you pay the return postage. If a book is faulty or not as described, tell us within 30 days and we'll pay for the return. See our Returns policy.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
We currently deliver to the UK and the United States (£12 per order). Any US import duties or taxes are the buyer's responsibility unless the checkout says otherwise.
Do you charge VAT?
Printed books are zero-rated for VAT in the UK, so there's no VAT on them. Other items, such as audiobooks on CD, include VAT at the standard rate.
