Returns
This policy sets out your rights when you buy from Sell Books Ltd online. It reflects your legal rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing here affects those rights.
Cancelling your order
You have the right to cancel your order within 14 days without giving a reason. The cancellation period ends 14 days after the day on which you, or someone you name, receives the goods. Where an order is delivered in several parts, the period ends 14 days after the day you receive the last part.
To cancel, tell us clearly before that period ends — by email to london@sellbooks.co.uk or by post to the address below. You may use the model cancellation form at the end of this page, but you do not have to.
Returning the goods
If you cancel, send the goods back to us without undue delay and in any event within 14 days of telling us you have cancelled.
You are responsible for the cost of returning the goods. We recommend using a service with proof of posting, as you are responsible for the goods until they reach us.
You may examine the goods as you would in a shop. If their value is reduced because you have handled them beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning, we may deduct that reduction from your refund.
Your refund
We will refund all payments received from you, including the standard delivery cost you paid. Where you chose a delivery option more expensive than our standard service, we refund only the cost of the standard service.
We will make the refund without undue delay, and no later than 14 days after the day we receive the goods back, or the day you supply evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier. If no goods were supplied, we refund within 14 days of being told you wish to cancel.
Refunds are made using the same means of payment you used, unless you agree otherwise. You will not incur any fees as a result of the refund.
Faulty goods, or goods not as described
These rights are separate from, and in addition to, the cancellation rights above.
Goods we supply must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Our books are secondhand unless the listing states otherwise, and each is graded — the grade shown on the listing forms part of its description. Satisfactory quality is judged against that description, so ordinary wear consistent with the stated grade is not a fault.
If goods are faulty or not as described, you have 30 days from receipt to reject them for a full refund. After 30 days, you may ask us to repair or replace them; if that is not possible or does not resolve the problem, you may claim a refund, which may be reduced to reflect your use of the goods.
Where goods are faulty or not as described, we pay the cost of returning them.
Goods that cannot be returned
The 14-day cancellation right does not apply to sealed audio or video recordings, or sealed computer software, once the seal has been broken. This does not affect your rights where such goods are faulty or not as described.
