Time

'Time' celebrates the many ways in which Andy Goldsworthy’s art is informed by or evokes the passage of time. Above all, he is concerned with time as it is made manifest in the processes of nature - ‘Movement, change, light, growth and decay are the lifeblood of nature, the energies that I try to tap through my work.’ Sometimes, the outcome is actively anticipated; a winter Scottish hillside yields a huge rectangle of compacted snow that becomes ever starker as the surrounding snow melts, until it too fades away; clay walls or floors dry out and craze to reveal previously invisible forms embedded within them. An introduction by the artist conveys a sense of the importance to him of time, change and place. A sequence of works made around his home in Scotland is followed by Goldsworthy’s diaries of visits to five locations in North America and Europe, vividly evoking, in texts and spectacular pictures, the process of exploration and response to each place.

Condition Descriptions
Our conditions mean the following:
- New - a brand new book
- Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
- Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or price price written in pencil or shop sticker.
- Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
- Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.
