Format: Paperback
What do the conditions mean?
Our conditions mean the following:
- New - a brand new book
- Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
- Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
- Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
- Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

One hundred and twenty-one of the best ancient Chinese fables- mostly from the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. as well as the 16th and 17th centuries - are contained in this volume. Written in the simple language of the people, these fables embodying the experience and wisdom of the Chinese have found their way into the hearts of many over hundreds of years. The book has twenty-eight illustrations. Folk Tales of the West Lake The West Lake of Hangzhou is famous for it's scenic beauty. There's a good reason for that. For it is here that visitors can feast their eyes on the stately mansions of exquisite workmanship and the entrancing landscape with towering willows reaching down to the water line. Amid this setting the Chinese have spun fanciful tales about how the lake was born, why the city is famous for its silk, tea and parasols, and given us such memorable characters as the "crazy monk" and the Spirit of Black Catfish. All this and more, along with the colorful illustrations in Folk Tales of the West Lake, will delight readers of all ages and make us grin like children discovering a secret for the first time.
