This is a multi-title review: titles include Priscilla Hauser's Book of Decorative Painting, Painting & Decorating Tables, and Decorative Painting Color Match Sourcebook - INTERIOR DESIGN Each of these books will be of interest to decorative painters. Hauser, founder of the National Society of Tole & Decorative Painters and author of Priscilla Hauser's Book of Tole & Decorative Painting (Van Nostrand, 1977), clearly illustrates basic paint strokes and then demonstrates how to paint flowers and leaves in much more detail than provided in her previous book. She also gives information on preparing materials to be painted, whether wood, tin, fabric, paper, glass, or plastic, with instructions on antiquing, crackling, and smoking. Myer (Creative Paint Finishes for the Home, North Light, 1996) shows how tole painting as well as other techniques such as d coupage and ceramic application can be used for table decorating projects. The Pearcys have created a system to match paint colors so that decorative painters can identify like colors from the most popular paint manufacturers regardless of the name. When a brand is lacking a certain color, formulas to create the correct hue are given. All these books are recommended where decorative painting is popular.-
