Design SHODO Practice Book for Beginner – KanjiIntroduction to Japanese Art-Calligraphy
What do the conditions mean?
Our conditions mean the following:
New - a brand new book
Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.
From Beautiful, Well-Structured Characters to Expressive Calligraphy: Design Calligraphy, Increasing in Popularity and Demand in Recent Years
This is an original work by calligrapher Gyokuran Fujita, who has extensive experience providing calligraphy for logos, product packaging, and title designs for various companies. The book is titled "Introduction to Japanese Art-Calligraphy: Design SHODO Practice Book for Beginner - Kanji".
This is a practice guide suitable for both beginners and experienced calligraphy enthusiasts, allowing anyone to create expressive, calligrapher-like brush lettering simply by copying the examples.
It’s more than just an introduction to artwork—it serves as a comprehensive text. It includes detailed descriptions of brush strokes and QR codes for video tutorials, making it an easy-to-use practice book. This edition introduces frequently used characters, ranging from single kanji to four-character idioms, making it an accessible " Design SHODO Practice Book" for daily use.
