About the Author As a former racing driver and current motoring writer, I have created 31 original non-fiction books since 1978. I work regularly for consumer magazine and book publishers in America and Britain. My books have been translated into French, German and Italian. This is the last [third] edition of my Escort book with the later front drive models included after the original rear drive Escorts, sporting and everyday. A strong sense of humour and the ability to improvise characterised a 14-year stint as the UK correspondent of the largest Italian motoring magazine.   In 2012, I completed another 14-year spell as a columnist and feature writer for a 75,000 circulation American monthly magazine, one that continues to broaden my creative horizons.  Venturing outside my comfort zone, I earned an Honourable Mention in the 2007 Writer's Digest competition, scoring a top 100 result amongst 15,000 fiction and factual entries from America and overseas.   International Automotive Media Awards [IAMA] at annual Las Vegas presentations in 1998 and 2000 brought me multiple wins.   Covering biographies and multiple editions, co-authorships and translations, total sales for my factual books are estimated at 451,000. Ghost writing for sports personalities and appearing in TV advertisements were entertaining diversions.  Presenting regional TV programmes and creating an exotic supercar book with a follow-up diary for Marks & Spencer added working variety and skills.    I continue to contribute to newspapers and magazines on either side of the Atlantic, including a regular by-lined American column and British classic car magazines.
