What do the conditions mean?
Our conditions mean the following:
- New - a brand new book
- Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
- Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
- Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
- Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

Alger. Une charrette cahotée dans la nuit transporte une femme sur le point d'accoucher. Plus tard, naît le petit Jacques, celui-là même que l'on retrouve dès le second chapitre, à 40 ans. Devant la tombe de son père, visitée pour la première fois, il prend soudain conscience de l'existence de cet inconnu. Dans le bateau qui l'emporte vers sa mère à Alger, commence la brutale remontée dans cette enfance dont il n'a jamais guéri. Les souvenirs de l'école, de la rue et de la famille jaillissent, faits de soleil et d'ombre. Le Premier homme est le roman auquel travaillait Camus au moment de mourir. Les nombreuses notes en bas de page, hésitations ou rajouts de l'écrivain retrouvés dans son manuscrit sont un émouvant témoignage de l'oeuvre en cours. Une oeuvre ambitieuse, aux accents autobiographiques évidents, dans laquelle Camus a cherché à dire ses "raisons de vivre, de vieillir et de mourir sans révolte"
