What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

Updated in July 2024 after Keir Starmer became Prime Minister!

"This is a fast & highly effective way to prepare for a test you that you are only doing for citizenship" - Dr. R Holder (Australia)

Get 100% ready in the shortest amount of time possible with my easy to follow and enjoyable summary of the official Life in the UK Test Study Guide. I focus only on what you need to know for the test and have removed all the unnecessary waffle.

All information is presented in a bite-sized fashion with just enough detail for your understanding and recollection. I use bullet points, summary tables and flow charts to make learning as simple and as concise as possible.

There are also over 450 questions that are strategically placed throughout the book to mirror the difficulty level of the actual test.

You will not find an easier way to prepare!

How is the book is organised? There are 24 sections Each section is allocated a generous review time of 1 hour Therefore 24 sections = 24 hours Some sections are very short and may only take you 5 - 10 minutes to go through The information is separated like this so that it is easy to absorb without feeling overwhelmed Within and after each section, there are typical exam questions to test your knowledge Realistically in one undistracted sitting, you can get through the entire book in just about 4 - 6 hours Slower readers would take a bit longer, but never more than 24 hours

Why this book works?

Your mind is in a constant state of forgetfulness. According to empirical evidence, you forget about 70% of what you read.

I have therefore incorporated 3 scientifically-proven learning strategies into this book: Chunking: Small chunks of information are easier to digest and remember Spaced repetition requires you to use your long‐term memory to recover information that you’ve partially forgotten Self-quizzing forces you to use the limited information that you can recall to navigate your way back to information that you’ve forgotten

Who am I?

My name is Dr. Muzz. I am a medical doctor working in the United Kingdom. I passed the Life in the UK Test on my 1st attempt in January 2022 and I now have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

As a medical doctor, I have done countless exams, both in medical school and in postgraduate training. Through this process, I have mastered the art of examination technique by using time-efficient and scientifically-proven learning strategies.

My deep love for education has driven me to become the Lead of Education in my current hospital and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, UK. I have used my 12+ years of experience, knowledge and training in sitting exams and educating others to create this book.

The 3 main challenges I faced when preparing for the test were: Not having enough time to prepare when working 13-hour shifts Remembering dense facts was hard. The official guide is essentially 150 pages of dense facts that were completely new to me. I forgot most of what I had read within hours of reading it. Practice tests missed the mark. Online practice tests failed to get the level of difficulty of the test correct. Some were either too easy or too hard.

Having passed the test and having spoken to many who have done it before, I realised that there is a far more efficient, easy and quick way to prepare. I have therefore written this book to address all of these challenges to make studying manageable, enjoyable and ultimately successful. This is the book I wish I had when I was preparing for the test.
