My ManorAn Autobiography

Format: Paperback

Condition: Poor Condition — £1.00
What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

The searing and witty autobiography of a gangland legend. In the sixties Charlie Richardson's 'manor' was a hugely profitable empire stretching from South London scrapyards and West End drinking clubs to mining in South Africa. Then, on the brink of the most lucrative deal of his career, Richardson was arrested. After a trial where the press labelled him the 'Torture Gang Boss' and the judge called him a 'disgrace to society', he was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. Now the gangland legend tells his story, from stealing lead as a child and escaping from reform school to his battles with the Kray twins and the Mafia, and the years when he was known as the hardest man in London. Untl the law finally caught up with him. 'Gripping . . . takes you through a panting half century of beatings and scams and stir-crazy outbursts.' Independent on Sunday 'Brilliantly witty.' Punch
