Format: Hardback

Condition: Poor Condition — £3.33
What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

In 1974 Philip Agee achieved instant international notoriety. He had quit the Central Intelligence Agency three years earlier and later published an expose, "Inside the Company", which blew the cover on the forces behind dozens of political and social upheavals and counter-revolutions around the world.;From the day he left the CIA, Philip Agee was marked by it as an enemy: hunted, arrested, threatened, expelled from country after country (often illegally) and sometimes prosecuted. In 1977, after living in Britain for almost five years, he was refused an extension of his visitor's permit and forced to leave the country "in the interests of national security". In 1979 Agee's US passport was revoked.;In this book, Agee tells the story of the events and feelings that led him to leave the CIA and of his struggles to survive while writing "Inside the Company" and after it was published. His growing sense of outrage at the CIA's covert interference in nations whose attempts at social and political reconstruction Agee increasingly admired, coupled with his brave attempts to redress the balance through exposure of CIA agents and actions in Europe, Africa and South America are described here
