What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

Henno Janmaat is a successful Dutch businessman who served as CEO and MD of a number of companies, including multinationals with a turn-over of a billion+. He is an expert in bringing loss-making companies back on track. An example of such work is his successful re-organization of Westland Energy Services, which shortly after, was nominated as the best energy supplier of the Netherlands in 2009. This book contains his digested and systematized experience of taking responsibility for a malfunctioning team and leading it to success. This knowledge can be useful for managers as well as for members of business teams which are responsible for a proper functioning of the company, all over the world, due to Henno's profound knowledge and experience of different business cultures. The book gives a great insight in the Dutch way of managing companies which is very much focussed on building trust. Focussing on trust in daily management derives from the Dutch Trade tradition. Trading on a sustainable basis is impossible when there is no trust. The book focuses on the various ways to build trust and the development of people and companies which is the result of building trust.
