Format: Hardback

Condition: Poor Condition — £33.95
What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

"Towering spires of dolomite and slabs of granite worn smooth by ancient glaciers, walls of snow swept by avalanches and ridges of ice sculpted by the wind--the world's highest mountains are great spectacles of nature and rank among the most important arenas for adventure left to humankind on this planet. Peaks of Glory tells the story of mountaineering from the fifteenth century to the present day, describing the most challenging mountains on each continent. Tales of history-making expeditions to the summits of Everest and K2, McKinley and Aconcagua, Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn join accounts of modern-day free- and speed-climbers on peaks from California to New Zealand. The hard-earned photographs that grace the pages of this book are the work of men and women who have challenged nature and their own physical limits. Dramatic images offer not only rare glimpses of the world's most beautiful and inaccessible places, but graphic evidence of the rigors and the rewards of mountain-climbing. Explore Peaks of Glory, and share the great climbers' passion for life at the borders of human daring." --
