The Fine Arts of Relaxation, Concentration and MeditationAncient Skills for Modern Minds
What do the conditions mean?
Our conditions mean the following:
- New - a brand new book
- Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
- Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
- Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
- Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

"During the past fifteen years Joel Levey has taught some thirteen thousand people survival skills for mastering the stress of life. He has worked with people from every walk of life, including business, education, health care, sports and the military, and presented here are more than a hundred of the techniques that he has found most effective. He draws from Zen, the humanistic psychotherapies, Tibetan Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and other tried and proven systems. He shows that it is definitely possible, with even a little knowledge of the fine arts of relaxation, concentration and meditation, to reduce stress, improve relationships and generally enhance the quality of our lives. "For many people," he says, "these techniques are like wish-fulfilling jewels. Used properly and purposefully, they can be extremely effective in helping to develop the latent qualities that you most wish to mature." This is very much a practical and down-to-earth work book. It is full of clear, easy-to-follow instructions and masses of explanation and can support for anyone who is tentative. Everyone can find something in this book that will stimulate and , most of all, help" -- Inside front cover
