What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

This new complete collection of paint recipes offers the ultimate solution to creating exciting and achievable interiors. Easy-to-follow techniques and expert advice on using inexpensive materials make this home decorating technique accessible to everyone.

The medium of paint is one of the oldest forms of decoration and simple techniques have been used across the ages to embellish interiors and artefacts -- from the primitive cave paintings of our ancestors and wreath-painted pillars of Rome to the trompe l'oeil panels and stencils of the first settlers in America. Nowadays, with an evermore versatile range of paint materials available, the possibilities of colour and texture are endless.

This book contains all you need to get started, with expert advice on selecting and using the right equipment and a catalogue of paints, glazes, pastes and varnishes from which to choose.

Over 50 different paint treatments, including ragging, faux wooden finishes, and colourful patterned effects are demonstrated, using step-by-step photographs and well-thought-out instructions to take the hard work out of decorating. From simple, broad contemporary stripes on a wall to antiqued accessories and floating marble floors, there are methods to suit all levels of expertise and every kind of decorative style.

With the techniques at your fingertips, you can then take inspiration from the specially created room settings. There are over 20 to choose from, including an English Country Kitchen and a Colonial Living Room, each with its own set of photographed step-by-step instructions taking you through all the stages -- from preparing surfaces to transforming the walls and furniture.

With everything youneed to know contained in one authoritative volume, The Practical Encyclopedia of Paint Recipes & Paint Effects offers fullproof instructions and unlimited design potential to enable you to create your ideal home. Open up the pages and let yourself become intoxicated by the wealth of inspirational ideas.
