The Sparks In My Skull

Condition: Standard Secondhand — £1.07
What do the conditions mean?

Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

What if, all along, migraines were a sign of your brain... trying to evolve?

Napoleon, Darwin, Julius Caesar, Virginia Woolf, Van Gogh... they all got migraines. So do Echo and Flynn. And it sucks.

Until the day young adults with migraines start developing new mental abilities called aether: Animus. Wispr. Psychokinesis. Scry. Precog. Snapshot.

Yet aether is also a death sentence. At some point, everyone who has it gets a sudden, fatal brain bleed.

Which means they'll die... but until then, the haters - and the government's anti-aether lockdown - are making the lives of everyone with aether hell.

So Echo and Flynn flee to find sanctuary. To find themselves.

But while in hiding they discover it's the lies people tell - and the secrets they keep - that may be the greatest threat of all to their short, fragile lives.

"Probably in my top 10 YA books ever and definitely my favourite magical realism read this year so far." GoodReads.com

"I loved the writing of the author. I loved the characters. I loved the story and the adventure in it. Action, thrills, humour, emotion and tragedy. It is a perfect blend of all the great genres... it will make readers both laugh and cry. I rate it a 4 out of 4 stars read." OnlineBookClub.org

"A great recommendation for fans of YA dystopian fiction and fantasy." LoveReading.co.uk
