Our conditions mean the following:

  • New - a brand new book
  • Almost New - appears new but is actually secondhand.
  • Very Good - only minor imperfections such as minor scuffs to edge or cover or a price written in pencil or shop sticker.
  • Standard Secondhand - Clearly been read before, but not too bad. We do not recommend these for gifting. Spines usually creased. Could also include creases or folds to cover, some writing such as in the cover or elsewhere, underlining or highlighting, but might not do. Possibly some stains or marks. Similar in general to books in any secondhand shop or charity shop.
  • Poor Condition - Usually this will have a specific problem such as writing inside, water damage, missing dust jacket, heavy staining, large creases or cuts. These are readable copies but not nice ones. On other websites this condition is called 'Acceptable' or 'Fair' , but we want to be more honest.

In A Victorian Christmas Story, the main character, who was recently widowed, has to find himself with a group of friends and family.Whilst simultaneously trying to get an Asian Sailor (Ming) back to where he lives, on the other side of the world, all before Christmas day. While doing all of this, this multi cultural group of gentlemen will be given the task to return Ming back to where he lives before Christmas as they meet several historical figures and big personalities along the way. They will also not only find themselves, but they will also find out the true meaning of Christmas, as well as develop a true bond together that will last a lifetime. I personally never had the intention of making a short story until after at least the chapter where Nikola Tesla came in. This was my realisation that the 2000-3000 page writing style of Charles Dickens (my favourite author) was hard to recreate with this idea. However, I do plan on doing it in the future with other books that I plan on writing, and finishing. Back to Dickens, I wanted this to be the kind of book that had two worlds collide. I wanted this book to take Charles Dickens Victorian England, and Thomas Hardy’s England, and make it hit Jules Verne’s science fiction head on. This was almost as if Around The World In 80 Days met A Christmas Story, or A Christmas Carol. Well, I feel that I have succeeded, although it turned out to be a short story, because of what I feel is such a narrow, and limited idea (this probably makes me a bad author). This book also has touches of symbolism for me, and many different languages to both promote multiculturalism; and stuff that I like (like music). I Love the fact that I added in the musical connection to the Harpsichord as an instrument, and Bach, and several other pieces of what is considered “ancient music”. To try and create an overall mood for the book. This is supposed to make the music people happy, and also make the book more and more lively, and have some kind of background music. This I feel made this book have some kind of era fitting soundtrack. And I Loved this idea, but another thing that I originally wanted. I am pretty sure I did focus on Racism and other social issues. I focused on Racism and put it in the spotlight through Ming as a character, and I made it so nobody was really excluded in this story when it came to that. I feel that the multi lingual parts of that make that theme what it is. By that I mean, that as an author, I feel like I did a pretty good job doing all of this. I feel that by incorporating Chinese, Russian, and French (along with obviously English and speckled Dutch.)
